Abstract
There is a significant lack of information on the distribution of the puma in Chile, which is an obstacle for decision-making for its conservation and prevents clarity on the condition of its local populations. Through camera trapping we report the first records of the presence of this species for the coastline of the Valparaíso Region. We also review previous records of their presence in the north-central zone of Chile and discuss the puma protection in this area of the country.
