Abstract
In January 2020 and 2022, recorded a stranding of Steno bredanensis and a mortality of Stenella longirostris, were recorded in Penco, Biobío Region, Chile. Although one animal was found dead, the characteristics of each individual suggest adaptation to environmental conditions despite occurring considerably south of their distribution range. We suggest increasing the monitoring effort of small cetaceans in the area to determine whether the presence of these species in the Biobío Region is extralimital or part of their usual distribution.
