Abstract
The marine catfish (Genidens barbus) is an anadromous species from South America, distributed from Brazil to Argentina. It is considered vulnerable due to its low fecundity and male mouthbrooding, with individuals migrating to estuaries for reproduction. Overexploitation has made it vulnerable in Argentina and endangered in Brazil. In February 2019, two adult males were captured in Playa Unión, confirming its presence in the Chubut River estuary, Argentina.
